Each project I build is brought to life with care and attention to detail. From tree to sea, wooden boats include many skills within this trade. From the initial design process to lofting full size patterns; to wood harvesting, milling and selection, castings, hull joinery, engines, systems, paint and varnish. It's all in there to some degree and we do as much as possible right here "in house". These days, new boats are built from the very best of woods and by people who've chosen this skill over many other conventional trades. Why is this? It's because it's their passion. Clients who support this business are also similarly taken with the many unique qualities of boats built this way, and the undeniable performance advantages of a wooden vessel. There's no material on the planet that can move through water like wood, absorbing vibrations rather than distributing them to the crew .
Although not the conventional building method it once was, the tradition continues to flourish in shops like my own. Furthermore, the process has continued to evolve as new types of adhesives have enabled much stronger and longer lasting wood construction possibilities.
Here, I blend traditional and contemporary boat construction methods with only the most rot-resistant wood species. Decks and cabin tops are sealed from the weather with epoxy, fabrics and coatings. The end result produces a higher quality, much longer lasting vessel to stand the test of time. Whether a small tender or a large motor or sail driven craft, the end result is a unique product, made with longevity and ease of maintenance in mind.
For over 25 years, I've specialized in this field. I've been lucky to learn how from some of the best in my corner of the world. If you have a project in mind, wish to take a class or simply have an inquiry into what's possible, I encourage you to contact me:
